March 2002....March
2002....
Me, Dario, Manuela and Ciro....Me, Dario, Manuela and Ciro....
We are 4 doves, 4 white doves, leaving from Rome and Naples to reach Paris...
Paris is already waiting for us, and Amsterdam is continuosly in our thoughts....maybe
we should reach Amsterdam also....
We left
from Rome on Friday 16, 2002....18 PM
Dario and the others reached me from Naples with a train, and we started
our Trip from Laurentina Station in Rome on my silver car Ford Fiesta
1.8D
The journey by car was something to remember and hard to tell, with Ciro
always messing and screaming, me and Dario driving fast, Manu providing
the food and the drinks...
A short and pleasant stop in Milan, hosted by
Gianfranco, and then again in motion...to reach Paris on Saturday
17, at 18 PM....with Fabio Liberti waiting for us in Place de l'Italie.
On the first nite out, on the same Saturday, we tried a bar downtown in
place de la concorde, where people use to meet at nite...and divide to
reach different places. Ciro was high all nite: a couple of girls in the
bar whispered something he did not understand, but that was enough to
keep him exited all the way home...
The other days we went through everithing Paris can offer to a tourist
and a student: i'm sincerely thankful to Fabio Liberti who stayed with
us most of the time, showing us places a common tourist could never meet,
inviting us one night at the student hostel for dinner and bringing us
in bars at nite where people from Paris use to meet and have real fun....without
tourists intrusions. Thank you Fabio, for real
AAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
And i must say a thing, i must. Our vacation, in every move, in every
expression, in every place, in every way...was influenced by a "drammatic"
idea of Ciro....I must explain. Before i left, or better during my last
trip in Budaperst with HP, a collegue made me a present... a great one:
a digital camera!
And so, obviously, i brought it with me in Paris.....and Ciro, maybe exited
by this new and terrific technology, found it easy to imagine how his
'out of mind immaginations' coul be turned into reality, or simply could
be told, with this amazing digital tool...And we stayed at the game, everywhere
we went: "Stursky & Hutch: Mission in Paris"!!!!!
We also
met Riccardo 'o Demonio, in place de la concorde one afternoon, walking
round with some friends, and spent a nite out with them in Paris, in one
of those places located in that zone of the city...
....But
the calling was too strong: Amsterdam never stopped whispering...never!
On thursday 21, at 6.00 AM, we left Paris directing our silver car straight
to Amsterdam. Fabio came with us. "480 km, we'll eat them in 4 hours"
I sayd. But i was wrong, how wrong! I took about 1 hour just to leave
Paris: Fabio seemed to know the way, but we had to face the trip as perfect
strangers, and the streets in Paris were so....fuck! At 8.00 AM Dario
drove the car under the rain, on a street with a concrete without continuity,
a real shit, at the speed of about 130 km/h....when the left anterior
tire exploded!!! A sense of fear captured everione in the car, even if
the great silver Fiesta didn't wreck a bit...we stopped and chenge the
tire in about 10 minutes, under the rain, and left again as nothing had
happened.
Would you believe that? We reached Amsterdam at 12.30 AM (6 hours and
30 minutes in a car!): the motorway connecting the two capitals is not
a straigh one, and you have to change trough towns and always keep attention
on where and when you turn....
Anyway we were not tired, or we did not feel like that: we spent about
8 hours in the town (the first thing we did was change the tires....)
between coffe
shop 36 (where we really had one of our greatest times), Vondelpark
and the various side streets near the big canals...
At 9.00 PM, almost dead, we climbed again in our car to hug Paris again....And
the road was long, and windy, and obscure (Ciro dreamt all nite long,
through nightmares that made him scream one time and us almost kill ourself
on the motorway by the sudden car stop the scream caused....). Around
3 AM of Friday morning we where again in Paris, still alive.
The last
few days in Paris i will remember for the great eatings of Kebab, in various
ways, for our visits to the modern art museums (we all remained impressed
by some Salvador Dali' operas)....try to get a Kebab after have seen a
Dali' picture, and then go to bed....
And our terrific trip into the famous paris cimitery, where we acted for
the last time as 4 characters of a Stursky & Hutch
movie? What to say about it?
On Saturday
we left from Paris and reached Milan in the early afternoon. We stayed
at Salvio's house in Pogliano Milanese: Salvio gave us the keys, very
gentle, 'cause he stayed out for a couple of days.
Manu remained in Milan with her relatives to watch a football match, while
we reached Rome and Naples the day after...the day after...the day after
a wonderful trip!
